Areas of interest and specialisation
We specialise in Africana relating particularly to Southern Africa. We carry stocks of material in all areas including natural history, topography, literary, current affairs, general and military history, earth sciences, law, fine and performing arts, travel and exploration, etc.

1820 Settler Genealogy
We have a CD that will run on your computer. This genealogy programme shows 88000 individuals, 49000 direct 1820 descendants, as well as 300 photographs and 420 documents. This is a great resource for anyone starting to trace their ancestors. With all reference books on the Settlers now out-of-print, this is your best source of genealogy information.
Price is £12.00 plus £5.00 airmail postage anywhere.

Purchase of new material
We will purchase small lots and complete libraries on most subjects if available for inspection within our locale of the Eastern Cape. We are keen to locate and purchase libraries and collections relating to our areas of specialisation, particularly those containing material relating to the Eastern Cape, modern South African politics, social history, and literature. We are of course interested in military, Boer War, hunting, anthropology, and all other popular areas of interest to do with Africa.

We can only update these a few times each year due to the time and effort involved. You are welcome to search for titles by selected authors and check with us for availablility. All items listed subject to prior sale.

STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS

PRICES Prices exclude p&p which will be invoiced at cost.
Books will be sent registered or insured parcel.
Overseas postings will normally be by surface mail.
BOOKS are offered subject to prior sale.
DESCRIPTIONS Books are described in good faith in accordance with usual trade definitions and all defects noted. Minor inscrip. foxing, etc. may be ignored unless book is VG or above.
ORDERS Please quote catalogue number, author/title, # number. Do not send money with order.
PAYMENT Institutions will be invoiced in terms of their official order which is required before despatch. New customers to please remit on receipt of pro-forma invoice for which our confirmation email of total cost shall suffice. Books will be despatched on receipt of payment. The invoice will show extra charges for p&p at cost. Please pay `Fables Bookshop'.
FOREIGN PAYMENT VISA, Mastercard & American Express. payments preferred - we will require the card number, the expiry date, and the CVC number which is the last three digits on the reverse of the card. Details may safely be faxed to our shop.
Otherwise payment by £ cheque, or US$ equivalent, only accepted subject to prior arrangement and to your acceptance of all additional foreign exchange charges levied by your and our banks.
RETURNS Books not meeting the condition as described may be returned if done so within 10 days of receipt providing that you contact us before any return is made to ensure that we can accept the item.
OVERSEAS POSTAGE GUIDE An average book of about 800g will cost £10.00 insured surface mail, £13.00 airmail. We will quote appropriate shipping rates on request.
FOREX COSTS Currently £10.00 for a US$ or GBP cheque.
